Why do so many of the country’s smartest people, who provide an enormous service that helps make the USA the greatest nation in space science and exploration, have to beg for the funds to be able to sustain programs that advance the country to the forefront of space exploration?
Fire the dunces that are destroying the most valuable services that USA still has operating.
If anything, cut out corporate lobbying out of government and widespread tax evasion by the ultra wealthy donor class.
There would be much more of the US Federal budget available for funding worthwhile projects for the future.
“Will Congress listen?” Who is there in Congress who will listen? Who is there to defend and take action? No signs of anyone forthcoming, so I think the obv answer is “No.”
Some would way this is no bad thing because we have a climate catastrophe to sort out here on the one habitable planet before we spend billions on space.
And no we don't need the spin-off technologies from space - we need leadership in spending less, consuming much less, recycling much more, and restoring the planet's ecology so we can breathe clean air and stop mass extinctions including our own.

I stand with Bill Nye 💯% ✊.
Bill Nye needs to be listened to!!! Congress get back to your job and start governing.
Why isn’t Congress acting?
Everything in the universe ends.
1. Human beings have been on this planet from 200,000 years to 315,000 years.
2. The dinosaurs came and went.
3. Our solar system is 4.5 Billion years.
4. Our universe is 13.8 billion years.
5. Red dwarf stars eventually die out after a trillion years.
6. The universe will either end in cold darkness or a fiery end.
“It’s just impossible for me to fathom for those who believe in an ethereal heaven. The universe we exist in is an estimated 13.8 billion years old.
There are those who believe that we’ll exist Indeed for a far longer amount of time. Their claim is we shall exist for all of eternity.

Good grief! He’s not happy with destroying our country, now he wants to kill outer space.
