It’s also important to remind people that the gop could eliminate the filibuster and vote CR into action with a simple majority. Their claim of needing the dems to reopen the House is bogus

Yes. It’s an awful time. We have changed, and we need to change more coming out the other end. Thus, my list of demands that just keeps growing:

Release the Epstein files. Abolish ICE. Bring back the tax rates of the 1950s. Overturn citizens united. Remove the cap on social security contributions, and make said tax also apply to capital gains. Universal healthcare, with no direct cost to the individual. Big pay increases for social workers, teachers, museum workers and librarians. Free childcare. Free university education. Forgive all student loans. 2 term limit for every political office. Mandatory retirement for politicians at age 70. Get rid of electronic voting machines. Eliminate the electoral college. Devise a standardized method of apportionment that eliminates gerrymandering.

I agree with all of your recommendations except for one. I want term limits, but 2 terms is way too short; for a representative that would be only a total of 4 yrs, for a Senator 12 yrs. If I have a great Congressperson who is doing fantastic work, & who is not corruptly taking bribes; then I want to be able to keep that person working for me for longer. It takes several years just to become familiar with even a small portion of the rules of that place. It should just be easier (minus the gerrymandering) to vote out an ineffective or corrupt official.

Well, that’s the conventional wisdom. However, I believe doing that would create a system that encourages members of the house with the drive to continue to run for senate or other positions. I doubt it would create much trouble at all. Let’s try it and find out. Can’t be any worse than what we’ve got!

Oh, MAGA Mike and his “Christian values.” Nothing says Christlike compassion quite like letting millions of kids go hungry while hoarding six billion taxpayer dollars in a “rainy day” fund. It’s raining, Mike. It’s pouring. The children are starving. And you’re busy running an Epstein protection racket disguised as a Bible study.

What we’re watching isn’t governance, it’s governance as punishment. Every loaf withheld is a sermon on hierarchy; the rich man’s supper is sacrosanct, but the poor kid’s lunch is optional. The GOP has perfected a theology of cruelty, where pain is policy and starvation is strategy.

So yes, “MAGA Mike’s Christian Values” are finally clear: Jesus wept, but Mike Johnson fundraised.

Could not agree more with this article. The GOP cannot claim to be Christian because Christ would likely shame Mike Johnson. The GOP has lost its compass....

Once again, let’s be clear. The Bible was never intended to be a weapon. Not everyone who calls himself Christian is a Christian. The term Christian nationalist is an oxymoron.

A true Christian may wear a crucifix, but they do so for themselves as a reminder of the person that they follow. They do not do it to demonstrate or to impress.

If any of these pseudo Christians truly believed in God, and in Jesus Christ, they would be living in fear .They would be working with the resistance and trying to eliminate Trump‘s evil behavior.

Jesus was very clear about hypocrisy and what happens to hypocrites.
