Btw. This solution seems obvious to me after talking with hundreds of people while phone banking. The RW disinformation machine is the only communication they are getting. But even so, these people are not dumb. They sense the evil they are working with. That’s why many are very unhappy with the path they have chosen, but don’t see a way to leave.
I’ve offered this solution to some well known progressive democrats. They flat out refused. They told me that trying to connect with that audience would bad for their business. Shocking.
Thank you Sam. That’s all correct, but you missed the key to the solution.
While disingenuous, the right wing disinformation machine connects with many voters at a personal level. We must do the same.
Creating networks and social media platforms like BlueSky help create solidarity with our liberal community, but does little to connect with the very people who voted us all into this nightmare.
We must create networks and social media platforms that appeal to the same voters being sucked in by the RW disinformation machine. Not all will listen to our new networks and platforms, but many will. Why? For many of these folks, being hateful, bigoted, misogynistic, etc. is very uncomfortable. They just want to live and take care of their families.
Without sounding condescending, our message to these folks must be that we just want to help them get ahead, and offer them a path to show that they can really get ahead and embrace being freedom loving, good, and compassionate people. I call this the good Pied Piper project. Join me.
To see if I could help, I started a website called Team Airdrop based on what good Russians were doing to get around Russian media blocks about what is really happening in Ukraine. Posting info using other communication channels. It’s kind of like what we and the Brits did in WW2, dropping leaflets behind enemy lines. Here, the enemy is the RW disinformation machine.
Using Team Airdrop, I’m trying to subtly send people to better voices. Here is the website if you would like to check it out. https://teamairdrop.org/
I’m not sure it’s doing anything, but it feels good to be doing something!
I still don't get how anybody can listen to these people 😕 😒 😪 🙄
One of those great unexplained questions that keeps me up at night. :-)

To me the process is reminiscent of the old-time de-programming efforts used on Moonieis and other cults.
Yes! I’m sure it’s similar!

Exactly right!
