WTF? How WaPo Betrayed Women Everywhere
Turning Empowerment Into a Joke for Profit
What fresh hell is this? The Washington Post—a self-proclaimed pillar of truth and integrity—has invited Lara Trump and Kellyanne Conway to headline their Global Women’s Summit.
Yes, you heard that right: the woman who coined “alternative facts” and the human embodiment of nepotism are somehow being honored as voices of empowerment.
Are we officially living in a satire skit from some darkly comedic alternate reality?
This is the same Washington Post that once prided itself as a watchdog for democracy. But now, they’re rolling out the red carpet for two women whose greatest contributions to society involve gaslighting the nation and enabling policies that set women back decades.
All under the guise of celebrating female empowerment! It's like inviting the foxes to give a keynote at a "Protect the Henhouse" convention.
Let’s not forget the theme of this summit: showcasing women as “architects of change and dynamos of innovation.”
Change, sure—if you mean changing the truth to fit a narrative. Innovation? Conway did innovate the art of brazen lying, and Lara Trump’s innovation involves riding the coattails of a certain orange demagogue into a GOP echo chamber.
As a liberal, let me be clear: I find both of these women despicable. Kellyanne Conway weaponized misinformation to warp public opinion, and Lara Trump...well, what exactly has she done other than shill for her father-in-law?
Their words and actions have actively hurt women, whether by propping up an administration hellbent on stripping reproductive rights, trivializing sexual assault, or normalizing misogyny.
This isn’t empowerment. It’s a mockery of it. Featuring them at an event supposedly about uplifting women feels like a slap in the face to every feminist who has fought for progress.
Let’s call this for what it is: a cash grab. WaPo knows controversy sells, and what better way to stir the pot than by platforming these walking PR disasters?
Never mind the damage they’ve done. Never mind the hypocrisy of putting them on a stage alongside true warriors for women’s rights like Afghan activists or Nancy Pelosi. Integrity? Who needs that when you’ve got advertisers to please and headlines to sell?
And let’s not ignore the irony here. While Afghan women risk their lives to speak out against oppression, WaPo gives a mic to Lara Trump, who wouldn’t know oppression if it slapped her with a subpoena.
Here’s a grim thought: events like this normalize people like Conway and Trump. It’s the classic playbook—wrap their hateful ideologies in a shiny package of empowerment, slap on a sponsor’s logo, and hope the public eats it up.
And if we let this slide, what’s next? Rudy Giuliani headlining a summit on ethics in public service?
Maybe WaPo thought they were booking inspirational women. After all, Kellyanne did manage to convince us that “alternative facts” were a thing. That takes some serious chutzpah—or maybe just the absence of a soul.
And Lara? Well, if being a Trump gets you on the roster, I’d like to nominate Ivanka’s handbag collection for next year’s summit.
We can’t sit by and let events like this redefine what it means to support women. This isn’t feminism. This is a farce. And if we don’t call it out, we’re complicit in letting the loudest, most harmful voices drown out those who genuinely fight for change.
So, what can you do? Demand better. Speak out against this blatant hypocrisy. Share this rant, post your outrage, and remind WaPo that real empowerment doesn’t include putting megaphones in the hands of those who harm women.
Let’s make it clear: we see through their shameless pandering, and we’re not buying it.

Looks like WaPo has decided that democracy should die right out in the light of day…with their assistance.
Disgusting.
