I've been saying this for a while. Announcing that you're going to peacefully protest on a certain day, on a weekend, is great but it doesn't inconvenience the government, such that it is. A general strike is good but on just one day, although showing solidarity, is just one day. Either maintain it as long as you can or alternate between professions. Fire fighters, bus and rail workers, taxi drivers, mail delivery, retail workers, medical, etc., etc. Obviously emergency services need to maintain working skeleton crews. Have sit-ins in key buildings and on roads. But, don't telegraph your actions. Try to keep dates on a need to know basis. By alternating professions you could keep it going for a really extended period. Power to the People.

Re: The nokings.org decisions for November 25th through December 2nd.

This is not the best idea brought forward so far. Im surprised by the decision. Thanksgiving weekend is the biggest time for travel between families. I can get behind No Black Friday, No Cyber Monday, but not Local Saturday or Giving Tuesday. This is not sustainable for too many families. Sacrifice is one thing, and many of us may be able to do a soft participation. But this is asking too much from too many who already have too little. Their new insurance premiums are coming in the mail soon. And this may be the only chance for a long time for them to ENJOY family time together. Notwithstanding the angst of money problems, insurance issues and now ask them for THIS???. These decisions may cost more of the electorate than won. I’m very disappointed. We were hoping for a split decision. Wait until the last week in December for a strike, plus No Black Friday or Cyber Monday over Thanksgiving. Plus changing W--4 to no tax removal. Starve the Feds, dampen consumer spending, complete divestment from companies funding the GOP and a week off at Xmas and Kwanzaa. These top down decisions are not taking real world scenarios into consideration. You remember, kitchen table economics? What a hot mess.

Now SNAP and WIC are going away.

I volunteer at a food pantry. Military service members are showing up in their fatigues! I've seen a few before but never knew they were in the Service. They seem to want the people to know what is happening, without saying anything that could cause trouble. And we've had to ask others not to take pictures. We dont want anyone in trouble for any reason

The food and household supplies are there for those in need. And that need grows daily. We dont have enough stock, and have to limit amounts, based on family size and age.

The same with some health care workers. Most change out of scrubs, but not now. (IMHO, Though I do wish they would. Too many contagious disease are spreading and hospitals are starting to overload.)

Now the season is upon us, but no one is in a position to really help out. Most desperately we need items SNAP or WIC doesn't cover. Soap, toiletries, paper products, pet products, cleaning supplies etc. Just the same thing found in most homes across the country. The lines start 3-4 hours before we open!!! It truly is 💔.

Please think of your own community during the rest of the year. And dont forget GIVING TUESDAY. We can help free clinics, homeless peoples programs, veterans programs, the elder care centers to do the very best they can in uncertain times. Those are the places that need $. Don't think $5 won't help. It can go a long way when added to the Collective.

When Meals on Wheels cannot take on new clients, and have to lower calorie counts because funding was cut months ago, you know it's really getting serious. And we will start having to cut the amounts available to help more and more with less and less.

If you take your pet to the vet during this time, and can afford it, or have gently used toys, leashes, collars, litter and/or litter boxes etc, bring them in to your local clinc. They also may have a collection jar at the desk. We can get extra food, toys, litter, etc for distribution, especially to the elderly who will go without everything to help their sometimes only companion!

As an FYI this is a compilation of various posts I've made as responses to other substack messages, so may be a seem to a few as a deja vu moment.

When Ice shows up having a very large group come in and sit all around the Ice vehicles 10 deep or more so it's not just a few they can run over. They would be committing murder and could be arrested.

No one is more responsible than Donald Trump for the “rage, hatred, and vile language” that has poisoned our country over the past ten years. Trump pardoned the violent criminals who—in response to his call—attacked a Joint Session of Congress on 1/6/2021. Some of these criminals are now ICE deployed bounty-hunters, a Gestapo-like secret police directed by Donald Trump to ignore the law, ignore due process, kidnap People of Color, and—before the Courts can learn of their existence—make them disappear.

Trump’s MAGA base includes an irretrievably corrupted Supreme Court. It includes criminals serving in the President’s Cabinet. It includes hundreds of corrupt Republican Members of Congress, thousands of corrupt Republican office-holders, and millions of Neo-Nazis who hate People-of-Color.

Led by the lifelong racist Donald Trump, these MAGA Republicans are trying to convert the USA’s Constitutional Republic into a Fascist, Christian-Nationalist, White-Supremacist Kleptocracy to be ruled in perpetuity by the Trump Family Crime Syndicate.

As shown by the October 18 “NO KINGS” demonstrations, and confirmed by current approve/disapprove rankings, it is a fact that the overwhelming majority of Americans disapprove of Donald Trump’s presidency. This majority will not rest until the criminal President is impeached, removed from office, prosecuted, convicted, and thrown into prison.

Dr King definitly, it must inconvenient gov, how, where to apply the pressure with a surprise and a purpose. yes, if we were to keep it up which is what i think. have steikes in a continuous round robin? civil resistance training would help like how SNCC did it in the day. teach it to all. but use those tactics yes.

Many of the tactics used by SNCC back in the day do not have a good analog for today's world. You can read up on the history or read the pamphlets, but other than basic non-violece training, and the "woke network" just won't cut it. Back then gaing admittance was often key. Now boycotts are having an effect. We are too globalized, the level of technology usage extremely different, and communities are very fragmented. But all GOOD TROUBLE starts local. Check neighborhood apps for networking. Check in with state or federal groups for suggestions you can use or attend meetings in your area. Ask your neighbors, what can we do? What SHOULD we do. Do risk/reward assessments. Check at the public library or community center. There are many ways to participate. Even the very disabled help. Postcards to Congress, emails sent in blasts. Not buying from certain companies or denying a treat once a week/ month takes money out of the system. Buy bogo, donate the second. You can find ways, but you must decide the level of participation safely and monetarily you can afford.
